Young & Restless’ Lily Brooks O’Briant Undergoes Endometriosis Surgery

We want to take a moment to send The Young and the Restless’ Lily Brooks O’Briant (Lucy) some extra love today. The actress recently underwent laparoscopic endometriosis excision surgery and opened up about her experience in order to let others know they are not alone.
O’Briant posted a photo alongside her doctor from a New York City hospital and began by thanking everyone for sending thoughts and prayers her way and expressed, “I am so very grateful for each of you.”
In terms of her health, she admitted the recovery process took longer than expected, due to “some bumps in the road,” which in turn will warrant a few weeks to fully recover. Rest assured, she is feeling “so much better” and traveled back to Los Angeles on Monday, September 18.

She went on to thank Dr. Seckin and his “amazing team” and explained that they removed 21 endometriosis adhesions during the laparoscopic endometriosis excision surgery that had caused her “debilitating pain, nausea, migraines and more.” So much so, that she’s dealt with the pain and upset for “weeks each month over the past three and a half years.”
She also thanked the Endometriosis Foundation of America and other “endo warriors” for the help they provide to women suffering from the disease and gave a special shoutout to Bindi Irwin and stated that if she hadn’t seen the Instagram post about her journey, followed by meeting the Australian television personality and zookeeper, O’Briant wouldn’t have recognized that she most likely had endometriosis.
Closing out her post, O’Briant had a special message for those “quietly dealing with pain” and getting no answers… “Know that your pain is real and keep searching for answers. Don’t be gaslit or brushed off — I was by a few doctors who told us I had an eating disorder or allergies or it was just something I had to endure for the rest of my life. It is not normal and I’m grateful my mom was not OK just accepting that this pain was just something I had to deal with for the rest of my life.”
Michael Graziadei, who plays her Genoa City dad Daniel jumped into the comments with a message of support and stated, “Love you. Get home safe kiddo,” while the actor who appears as her onscreen grandpa Danny, Michael Damian, sent her some love in the form of a heart emoji.
Soaps.com sends O’Briant our best wishes for a speedy recovery and we invite others to share their experiences and advice in the comment section.
