What song plays at the start of Monday Night Football?


Monday Night Football is must-watch programming for football fans as viewers eagerly tune into match-ups that will decide who’s going to the playoffs as the season progresses. From week-to-week, fans will sit down at night to see bitter rivals clash and their favorite players push their teams to victory. You’re also hear new music.

The program has a new anthem, which was revealed on Monday, Sept. 18, to go with the increased coverage of the games being played in the season due to the uptick in telecasts and simulcasts happening on ABC and ESPN. What song opens Monday Night Football?

The song featured is a cover of Phil Collins’ hit, “In the Air Tonight.” Chris Stapleton, Snoop Dogg, and Cindy Blackman Santana are the artists behind this version of the track. A music video for the song will play at the open of every game featured on Monday Night Football. It’ll also play during the Saturday Doubleheader in week 18, the Super Wild Card, and the first Divisional playoff game.

Will Monday Night Football’s theme still play?

Yes! Deadline reports that “Heavy Action,” the iconic theme music for the program is still a part of the production. It’ll now play after “In the Air Tonight” just before the call for each game.
