Powerball with Power Play: How the Multiplier Works

The Power Play is a $1 optional feature you can add to your Powerball play that can boost your non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5 or even 10 times, depending on what Power Play number is drawn.

How does Power Play work?
The Power Play is a special number that is randomly drawn before each Powerball drawing. This “multiplier” number is chosen by a random number generator with weighted values for reach multiplier option.
There are twenty-four 2X values; thirteen 3X values; three 4X values; and two 5X values. And when jackpots are below $150 Million, one 10X value is added to the mix!

Power Play numbers: How much can you win?
The payout chart below shows how much each Power Play number drawn would boost your prize winnings. Important to know:
- The multiplier does not apply to a jackpot prize (Sorry! We don’t make the rules.)
- The Match 5 numbers prize is always $2 million no matter which multiplier is drawn. Without Power Play, it’s $1 million.
- The 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot is $150 million or less.
