Powerball jackpot winner: No winner Monday; prize rolls to $653 million

There was no winner during the Monday night Powerball drawing for $613 million, rolling over the jackpot grand prize to $653 million as of Tuesday morning ahead of Wednesday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers for Monday night’s drawing were 1, 4, 12, 36, 49 and Powerball: 5.
The $653 million jackpot set for Wednesday night at 10:59 p.m. will have cash value of $350.5 million before taxes if the winner chooses the lump-sum option, according to the Powerball site. The jackpot has rolled more than 30 times since it was last hit on Nov. 19, 2022.
During that November drawing, the jackpot had been worth $92.9 million, and one winning ticket was sold in Kansas.
This $653 million jackpot drawing for Wednesday is also Powerball’s largest jackpot since the record-shattering $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot was hit on Nov. 7 in California.
During the $2.04 billion drawing — the largest prize ever awarded in lottery history — there was a $1 million winner in Massachusetts. Richard Lavery, from North Quincy, purchased a $1 million Powerball ticket for the drawing from West Squantum Market & Liquors in Quincy.
Though there were no Powerball jackpot winners on Monday night for the $613 million, there were two lucky smaller-tier prize winners in Massachusetts during the Jan. 30 drawing.
A winning $100,000 Powerball ticket was sold in Vineyard Haven from a Cumberland Farms. That winning ticket matched four of the first five numbers drawn, and also matched the Powerball number, on a 2X Power Play ticket.
The other winning Powerball ticket sold in Massachusetts was worth $50,000, and that winner’s ticket also matched four of the first five numbers drawn along with the Powerball number, but on a regular ticket. The winner purchased their ticket from the Wegmans in Chestnut Hill.
Powerball tickets are $2 each, and the game can be played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball players must choose a five numbers ranging from 1-69 for their ticket, and one Powerball number ranging from 1-26.
Tickets for the $613 million jackpot will be sold until 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday at Massachusetts State Lottery retailers across the state. Drawings for the Powerball take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Results are released to the Powerball website, and the live drawing can be watched on the organization’s YouTube channel.
