Daniel Cormier Is Convinced Tom Aspinall Did the Right Move Accusing Jon Jones of PED Use
The rivalry between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones has taken a new turn with the duo lashing out at each other on social media. But this time, the interim heavyweight champion has achieved success by pressing the most sensitive nerve in Jones’ mind. Or at least, that’s what the former HW champion, Daniel Cormier thinks.
Jones is pretty defensive about his troubles with performance-enhancing drugs. And with the ‘Honey Badger’s recent poke, his dream to fight Jones might finally come true.
Daniel Cormier applauds Tom Aspinall’s poke at Jon Jones’ PED troubles
Not too long ago, Aspinall claimed that Jones was the “champion of dodging fights.” Needless to say, Aspinall needs to fight Jones if he wants to wear the HW gold. But with Jones set to fight Stipe Miocic, Aspinall’s chances were looking pretty thin. But when Jones lashed back at the interim champion in a now-deleted tweet, Aspinall played the ace and tweeted, “Jon’s right, he’s won so many more world championships than me… while using PED’s.”
Cormier was pretty impressed with ‘Honey Badger’s response. After all, it was the only thing that had the potential to enrage Jones and reel him in for a fight. The UFC commentator said, “Guys, it’s brilliant. It’s brilliant. Because as you know, through the whole course of the situation with Jon and I, the one thing he always hated and the one thing that he wants to prove more than anything is that he did not do PEDs. The one thing that he does not want on his records is an asterisk.”
Even when the USADA claimed that the amount of PEDs in Jones’ body was too insignificant, to have any effect on his performance, the champion proudly stated that he had defeated USADA. DC knew that Jones had just one thing in focus, and that was to prove himself innocent. With Aspinall poking ‘Bones’ right where it hurts, Cormier believed that a fight between the two would materialize soon.

DC concluded, “ So, Tom Aspinall attacking that part of what he has done will really make him jump in and go, ‘I can’t stand that dude.’ When somebody says they can’t stand you, ultimately they choose to fight you.”
DC’s claims are indeed based on Jones’ desperate attempts to steer his PED troubles away. Earlier in April, the heavyweight champion faced yet another allegation. Let’s see what Jones had to say about it.
‘Bones’ denies all accusations by Drug Free Sport testers
Jones faced a bit of trouble when an agent from Drug Free Sports Testing knocked at his door for a urine sample. But things slipped out of hand when Jones was unable to provide the urine sample and was asked for a blood sample instead. The agent accused Jones of assaulting and threatening him.
The case went to court and as expected, ‘Bones’ pleaded not guilty. Later on, Jones defended himself by saying, “I was recently visited by testers while I was celebrating a birthday and taking a nap. Upon waking up, I was caught off guard by the unprofessionalism and protocol by one of the testers which caused frustration leading me to use some profanity I regret. I want to assure you that I will vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations. The truth is, the incident simply did not occur.”
Had the court found him guilty, Jones would have had to spend some time in prison. On top of that, he would have had to pay a fine of $1500. No wonder, the champion gets triggered by anyone who points at the PED allegations. With Aspinall poking him again, Jones might just take the fight to him soon.
