Software intelligence firm Microstrategy (Nasdaq: MSTR), which recently rebranded as Strategy, announced on March 24 that it had acquired approximately 6,911 BTC for $584.1 million in cash between March 17 and March 23.
The purchase, made at an average price of $84,529 per bitcoin, inclusive of fees and expenses, was funded using proceeds from the company’s ongoing at-the-market (ATM) equity offerings for both its class A common stock (MSTR) and its newly issued 8.00% Series A Perpetual Strike Preferred Stock (STRK). This latest buy brings Microstrategy’s total holdings to roughly 506,137 BTC, acquired at a cumulative cost of $33.7 billion—an average purchase price of $66,608 per bitcoin.
Executive Chairman Michael Saylor announced the purchase on social media platform X, stating:
MSTR has acquired 6,911 BTC for ~$584.1 million at ~$84,529 per bitcoin and has achieved BTC Yield of 7.7% YTD 2025. As of 3/23/2025, Strategy holds 506,137 BTC acquired for ~$33.7 billion at ~$66,608 per bitcoin.
With this acquisition, Strategy reinforces its position as the largest corporate holder of bitcoin globally. The firm maintains a public-facing dashboard on its website, offering real-time updates on its bitcoin holdings, key financial metrics, and disclosures in compliance with Regulation Fair Disclosure (FD).
Saylor’s commitment to bitcoin extends far beyond balance sheet strategy. He has recently met with U.S. regulators, including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Crypto Task Force and the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, to discuss regulatory frameworks. He also attended a White House Crypto Summit hosted by President Donald Trump, where he advocated for bitcoin’s role in national policy. Saylor has shared his long-term outlook: he predicts that bitcoin could reach $13 million by 2045, with a bull case of $49 million and a bear case of $3 million. He believes bitcoin’s market cap will eventually hit $200 trillion and then grow 20% annually. Saylor also projects that a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve could yield between $16 trillion and $81 trillion for the Treasury by 2045—potentially offsetting the national debt.
