SANDWICH, MA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.This submission comes from Kim Clarkson who nominated McKenzie of Sandwich, Massachusetts.Star local student’s nameMcKenzie What grade is your star local student in? 11thHow do you know the star local student?I taught her in tenth grade.Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?I am writing on behalf of McKenzie. I had the privilege of teaching her at Barnstable High School during her sophomore year. I can confidently attest to her exceptional qualities as an individual and commitment to being a well-rounded student. What sets Mckenzie apart from other students is her work ethic and genuine desire to learn and grow. McKenzie is a self-driven individual who will undoubtedly go on to good things. In addition to her academic prowess, McKenzie is a remarkably well-rounded individual. She is an active member in and out of her school’s community participating in Volleyball, Jesus Club, Student Ambassadors and Student Council. McKenzie has also volunteered with Kids’ Day, Unity Day, Buddy Walk, Special Olympics, Cape Cod Cares for Troops, and through a Polar Plunge helped raise funds for a comfort zone.
