While the prospect of James Gunn ushering in a new era for DC is exciting, even more exciting is to have new characters and actors make their way into the superhero verse. While fan-favorite protagonists like Guy Gardner or Booster Gold are expected to make their live-action appearances soon, Gunn is also bringing The Engineer to DCU soon.

Portrayed by actress María Gabriela De Faría, The Engineer is a powerful villain whose powers originate from the nanites in her body. An incredibly formidable antagonist, De Faría is certainly excited to be playing a comic book character and often posts photos and videos from the sets.

In a recent hilarious Instagram story, the actress can be seen sitting in James Gunn’s golf cart on the sets of Superman. In the caption of the photo, she wrote,
Feeling powerful in @jamesgunn’s gulf cart two seconds before almost crashing it into his trailer.
Do I wanna get fired? Apparently.
The obviously humourous story soon was shared on other platforms and fans have been loving the funny incident shared by the actress.
Who is The Engineer, to be Played by María Gabriela De Faría?

The Engineer was introduced in the DC universe starting from 2011’s Flashpoint event. Named Angie Spica, the character was initially introduced into the Wildstorm universe and later various characters were incorporated into the DC comic book verse.

A modified human being has a rich nanite-enriched fluid in her body instead of blood, the character is more of a machine instead of a human. Having complete control over the nanite within her body, Spica can control machines, shape-shift, reshape her body, and much more. She also has a second metal skin on top of her skin which can even withstand an atomic bomb.
Apart from her impressive abilities resulting from the nanites in her blood, The Engineer is also an incredibly genius character. The ability to have unlimited knowledge stored in her nanites also makes her unstoppable and a formidable adversary for any superhero who dares to cross her path.
Superman will be released on July 11, 2025.
