Swampscott Seeks Town Election Review Committee Members

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Swampscott residents interested in examining ways to increase participation in town elections and candidate pools for local offices are invited to apply for the newly formed Town Election Review Committee.Established at a special town meeting this winter to address participation concerns and to consider changes to town voting — including moving the town election to a weekend date after the annual town meeting and potentially allowing high school students to vote in local elections — the Committee has received a number of applications but still has openings for multiple positions. There is an opening for a registered voter from Precinct 2, two residents who are registered voters and between 18 and 22 years old, and one town resident who is either 16 or 17 years old. Those interested are encouraged to apply here and mark off "Town Election Review Committee" in the board list on the form.(Scott Souza is a Patch field editor covering Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.
