Entertainment News
Get ready for an evening of glitz, glamour, and goodwill as SnapCo hosts its first-ever SnapCo Forever Gala this Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the enchanting Factory Atlanta. With the theme "Make it Last," the gala promises to be more than just a night out; it's a rallying call to sustain and support Black trans leadership in Atlanta for years to come.
The Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative (SnapCo) has been a beacon of hope since its inception, providing vital support to Atlanta's Black, trans, and queer communities through their Taking Care of Our Own Fund. This initiative, launched in 2016, has offered critical aid ranging from emergency bailouts to housing and gender-affirming resources.
"This event showcases Black and Trans excellence in all of its glory, shedding light on the role of community support in fueling our efforts to end violence against women, femmes, and trans people," remarks Toni-Michelle Williams, SnapCo's Executive Director and Atlanta Pride's 2023 Grand Marshal.
The gala will be hosted by none other than actress and Emmy Award nominee Angelica Ross, with star-studded appearances from comedian Kia Comedy and "P Valley" sensation Toni Bryce. Adding to the evening's allure, performances by queer artists Rahbi and D'Asia Blush Cassadine promise to captivate guests throughout the night.
Highlighting SnapCo's impact will be the exclusive exhibit "Transformation Takes Time," offering a glimpse into the organization's people, legacy, and community impact. The gala will also honor local luminaries such as comedian Miss Sophia McIntosh, author Prentis Hemphill, and community stalwarts like Geli Floyd and Valerie Spencer.
"We're aiming high with a fundraising goal of $11,000, symbolizing our 11 years of dedicated service," says Williams. "Every ticket purchase and donation helps us achieve that milestone and continue our vital work."
Support from sponsors like AntiRue Jewelry Company, Marguerite Casey Foundation, and Georgia Equality underscores the broad community backing for SnapCo's mission. Nichelle Brunner of Borealis Philanthropy praises SnapCo's transformative approach, citing its pivotal role in Atlanta's racial justice and LGBTQ movements.
For those eager to join this memorable occasion, details and registration information are available here. The Red Carpet festivities kick off at 6:00 PM sharp, promising an evening of elegance and empowerment.
Don't miss your chance to be part of history in the making. SnapCo's inaugural gala is not just an event; it's a testament to the power of community, compassion, and collective action. Let's make it last.
