Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) got a serious blast from the past in Wednesday’s (May 1) episode of Coronation Street thanks to the arrival of Denny, Paul (Peter Ash) and Gemma’s (Dolly-Rose Campbell) father.
We first saw Denny at the end of Monday’s episode. He was sat in his van listening to Paul’s radio interview. He jotted down Paul’s name, and that he lives in Weatherfield, and made his way there tonight.
Outside the café, as Bernie swept up, her face dropped when she saw Denny. He mentioned the interview and how he wanted to see his unwell son, but Bernie tried to cover and said the chat was pre-recorded, because Paul is already dead.

Paul and Denny then arrived at the pub and got talking. As they ordered drinks, Paul started to relax and was grateful Denny wasn’t ‘fussing’ over him.

Denny then started to get a little carried away and ordered more booze. As Paul became tipsy, he accidentally knocked a glass on the floor.
Back at home, Paul told Bernie and Billy that he was fine, but then he then started to be sick.
As Bernie helped clean Paul up, Billy encouraged Denny to leave.
Outside, Bernie confronted Denny and demanded to know why he had really come to Weatherfield.
