Spraying Planned For This Week To Battle Mosquito-Borne Disease

HYATTSVILLE, MD — The state department of agriculture will spray for mosquitoes Wednesday night starting around 7:30 p.m. in Hyattsville due to a concern about mosquito-borne disease.While the city stated that it doesn't have a map of the spraying area, officials believe it will be near the 38th Avenue Park, Mt. Rainier, North Brentwood and Brentwood. The state ag department sprayed for mosquitoes last Tuesday night in Seat Pleasant, Capital Heights, Bowie North, Fairmont Heights, Yorktown and other neighborhoods after a captured mosquito tested positive for the West Nile virus.Crews with mounted sprayers on trucks used EPA-approved insecticide to spray the neighborhoods.
