Cayden Brumbaugh ‘probably not 100%’ per Will Bolt

Cornhuskers head coach Will Bolt provided an injury update on Brumbaugh ahead of the Stillwater Regional, which features Oklahoma State, Florida, Nebraska and Niagara.
“Yea, I mean he’s been out there and playing. He obviously had a big stolen base there for us at the end of that [Big Ten Championship] game. … So I’m sure he’ll be ready to rock,” Will Bolt said. “Is he feeling 100 percent? Probably not. I would say most of these guys probably aren’t 100 percent this time of year.”
Cayden Brumbaugh is hitting .309 with 11 doubles, three triples, 13 stolen bases and 19 RBIs on the season.
He is back playing where he started his career this weekend as he played at Oklahoma State before transferring to Nebraska. As a freshman for the Cowboys in 2022, Brumbaugh hit .318 with a run and an RBI in 13 games, with four starts.
If Oklahoma State and Nebraska both win on Friday, he would face off against his former team. However, first the Cornhuskers have to beat Florida and OSU has to beat Niagara.
Will Bolt believes O’Brate Stadium will be a ‘pretty offensive’ regional site
Nebraska baseball headed a short ways south for the NCAA baseball regionals. Head coach Will Bolt thinks the park will net plenty of runs, no matter who is playing.
Bolt identified a few factors that led him to such an assessment of O’Brate Stadium, where host and No. 1 regional seed Oklahoma State plays.
“It’s pretty offensive, from what I’ve — I’ve never seen it in person, never been there,” Bolt said. “Seen it on TV, certainly, and one of my closest friends, Justin Seely, obviously coached there for a couple years and he sent me a few pictures, ‘Look at this place. This is incredible.’ But I’ve never been. But I think it plays pretty offensive. The south wind’s going to be blowing out. The wind’s always blowing in Oklahoma and when it’s hot, it’s blowing from the south.”
He added that the postseason track record of NCAA regional and super regional game played there also bears out the offensive nature of the ballpark.
“So I would imagine it’s going to play pretty offensive,” Bolt said. “That’s what the scores have said in the postseason in that ballpark, is that it’s a pretty offensive park. So I know it’s one of the top facilities in the country, I’m really excited for our guys to be able to experience it.”
