Ohio State Five-Star Plus+ CB commit Na’eem Offord impressed by Oregon after weekend visit
Birmingham (Ala.) Parker Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Na’eem Offord visited Oregon over the weekend, and the Ohio State commit had a “good experience” during his time in Eugene, he told On3.
Offord toured the Ducks’ campus and facilities and spent time with the coaching staff while in the Pacific Northwest. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back is excited to return to Oregon soon.
“Oregon will get an official visit,” Offord said “I am still locked in with Ohio State, but I am high on Oregon and they are a priority on my list.”
Offord will either officially visit Oregon or Florida State on the weekend of June 15. He has already locked in an official to the Buckeyes for the weekend of June 22.
The No. 1 player in Alabama has been pledged to Ohio State since Feb. 4. And while there is still a long time ahead of National Signing Day, Oregon will work hard to flip him.
“The biggest highlight of the visit was building relationships there,” said Offord, the No. 7 overall prospect and No. 2 cornerback in the 2025 On300. “They are recruiting me as hard as they can because I’m committed to Ohio State. They were really on me and checking my boxes.”
Oregon will be a serious contender to flip Offord going forward
Offord was one of the top recruits on Oregon’s campus during a massive recruiting weekend. Other blue-chip prospects in Eugene included San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights five-star athlete Michael Terry and Matthews (N.C.) Weddington four-star defensive lineman Trajen Odom.
Head coach Dan Lanning and his staff are hoping to add Offord to the Ducks’ 2025 recruiting class, which ranks No. 6 in the 2025 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Oregon’s group is led by a pair of top-100 recruits in Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Bay Tech five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson and San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln four-star quarterback Akili Smith Jr.
“What stood out was how they showed me a lot about Oregon outside of football and what they can offer,” Offord said. “I also noticed how they take Nike very seriously up there.”
Lanning has already made a strong impression on Offord. He is treating the five-star like a top personal priority.
“Coach Lanning is a very cool guy,” Offord said. “He calls me and he is always speaking with me. We have gotten to know each other and he is trying to get closer to me as this process goes on.”
