iPhone owners told to never break ‘0 to 35’ rule as Apple warns it ‘can permanently shorten battery life’
APPLE has warned iPhone users to avoid leaving their devices in certain conditions to prevent serious damage.
Failing to heed Apple’s advice could lead to a host of issues with your phone, including being unable to use it altogether.

Should a person’s iPad or iPhone get too hot, it could potentially permanently lead to a shortened battery life, Apple warned on its support page.
The tech giant said storing devices in a place where the temperature is between -4º to 113º F (-20º and 45ºC) is best practice.
Apple specifically warned against leaving devices in cars as the temperature inside parked vehicles can easily exceed the suggested range.
The company also warned that any temperature variation — whether it be hot or cold — could lead to certain features being disabled and in extreme cases, the iPhone itself becomes disabled.
Should the device become disabled, a thermometer will appear on the screen stating “Temperature. iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it.”
While iPhones and iPads have built-in protections from overheating, there are times when the internal components in the device exceed the optimal working range.
Apple noted that devices can get warm regardless of the outside temperature in certain scenarios.
You might notice your phone feels hot when setting up the device for the first time, restoring data from a backup, charging the device wirelessly, streaming high-quality video, and several other things.
The tech brand states the best way to avoid overheating would be to avoid leaving the device in a hot car all day, leaving the phone in direct sunlight, and using features (like navigation) while having the phone in the sun.
According to Apple, users of the device will be quick to notice when internal components overheat.
One of the signs will be that charging slows down or stops, the display dims, and certain features are disabled.
The same holds true for when the device becomes too cold.
“Using an iOS or iPadOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause your device to turn off,” Apple wrote in its guide.
The company noted that battery life should return to normal when you bring the device back to the regular temperature range.
“Your iOS or iPadOS device might not charge or could stop charging if it gets too cold,” the guide warns.
Should your device exceed normal temperatures while restoring a backup, the restoration might pause temporarily.
What causes your iPhone to overheat and how to avoid it
Apple warns that your device will slow down and permanently lose battery life if you fail to protect it from extreme temperatures.
Ways your iPhone will overheat:
Setting up your device for the first time
Restoring from a backup
Wirelessly charging your phone
Using graphic-intensive or processor-intensive apps
Streaming high-quality videos
How to avoid overheating your device:
Avoid leaving it in a car on a hot day
Avoid leaving your device in direct sunlight for a long time
Using features ( like navigation) in hot conditions or direct sunlight.
The message will read, “Restore Paused. Restoring from iCloud will resume when this [device] cools down.”
Have no fear, this will not mess up the restoration, just pause it until the device returns within an acceptable temperature range.
