MultiVersus beta changes fail to impress fans

MultiVersus has had a weird road to release. The game was technically out, and even purchasable from late 2022 to mid 2023. Then, out of nowhere, the development team announced that the game would be ‘shutting down' after a six-month long beta, before re-releasing in 2024. Now, MultiVersus has finally re-launched, but some fans aren't happy with the changes made.
MultiVersus is a crossover platform fighter akin to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. The game stars famous characters from various WB IP, from the DC universe to standalone films like The Iron Giant, all the way to Game of Thrones and The Matrix. In the first 24 hours of the game's re-launch, the game peaked at over 114,000 concurrent players on Steam, but fans were not pleased with the game's newly implemented character restrictions.

MultiVersus originally allowed players to access the full character roster when playing offline matches. You could also try out different characters in the game's training mode. Now upon the game's re-launch, all paid DLC characters are locked behind a paywall, with no way to try them out before putting money down.
Others have also pointed out that the game feels ‘slower' and less responsive than its initial beta. Some UI changes and matchmaking issues are also not sitting well with players. As a result, the ‘Recent Reviews' score for the game on Steam has dropped from positive to mixed.
KitGuru Says: Have you tried MultiVersus since its relaunch this week? How do you feel about the changes made since the beta? The post MultiVersus beta changes fail to impress fans first appeared on KitGuru.
