The Brooklyn Nets, with Jordi Fernandez, will have one of the NBA’s largest staffs with nine assistants. On Friday, the Brooklyn Nets confirmed reports on the makeup of their assistant coaching staff under new head coach Jordi Fernandez. The staff will be composed of nine assistants, one more than the beginning of last season and making it one of the largest if not the largest staffs in the NBA this coming season.

As previously reported, the staff like Fernandez, is development-centric.
There was only one surprise and it wasn’t a big one: the Nets promoted Travis Bader from head video assistant to assistant coach. Bader, one of the top college 3-point shooters all-time at Oakland University in Michigan, has been with the club for the past five years, as Mike Scotto noted in a tweet.

Scotto was first to report the outline of the staff earlier in the month, writing that Fernandez had attracted Connor Griffin (Nuggets) and Deividas Dulkys (Kings) to Brooklyn. Fernandez knew Dulkys from Sacramento.
Previously, it was disclosed that Steve Hetzel who Fernandez has known since their days together in the Cleveland Cavaliers organization and Juwan Howard, the former NBA All-Star and head coach at Michigan. Hetzel will be lead assistant and presumably will coach the Nets Summer League team in Las Vegas while Fernandez tends to his other head coaching job with Team Canada, one of the top medal contenders at the Paris Olympics.
The holdovers from Jacque Vaughn’s staff are Adam Caporn, the team’s development director last season, Jay Hernandez , Corey Vinson and Ryan Forehan-Kelly, all of whom have long NBA experience working with young players. Vinson who joined the Nets from Phoenix last season is close with Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson.
Bader’s elevation was hinted at when he joined the coaching staff in a group photo a little m more than week ago at a Liberty game.
