“400 mil could have made Bloodborne a Trilogy”: Bloodborne PC Port Video Looks So Gorgeous We Will Never Stop Blaming Sony for Choosing Concord

Sony’s approach to some games has been poorly received, especially regarding Bloodborne. With the FromSoftware title now being playable on PC through emulation, the lack of a remastered version has become a sore point for fans. We’ve been seeing consistent updates with the game’s development for the ShadPS4 emulator. And it only makes us wonder what could’ve been.

It’s especially sad if you consider the recent failure of one of the company’s high-cost projects. If Sony had invested in a Bloodborne remaster rather than sinking $400 million into Concord, we could’ve seen the internet go absolute nuclear in praise.
Bloodborne Is Going To Become The Biggest What If
In recent months, Bloodborne has become partially playable on PC through a PS4 emulator called ShadPS4. Although far from perfect, the emulator has allowed fans to experience the game in a way Sony has so far denied them. Some players have even reported being able to complete the game but not without issues.

Despite these technical challenges, the progress made is remarkable, considering that just a few months ago, the game could barely start. Instead of investing in a remaster of a well-established hit, Sony chose to reportedly spend an astounding $400 million on Concord, a hero shooter that flopped disastrously just two weeks after its release.

Released in late August 2024, Concord was developed by Firewalk Studios and billed as “the future of PlayStation.” The game sold only around 25,000 copies, with fewer than 700 concurrent players on PC at its peak. Sony’s high hopes for the title, and the staggering amount invested, quickly evaporated.

Fans believe that the money could have been better spent developing a remaster or even a sequel to Bloodborne. Released in 2015, the game is still regarded as one of the best soulslike titles ever made.
Sony Needs To Take a Step Back And Rethink Its Decision

In stark contrast to Sony’s reluctance to revisit Bloodborne, the emulation community has shown just how much potential the game still holds. The recent updates to ShadPS4 have allowed Bloodborne to be played in 60 frames per second on PC, albeit with some necessary workarounds.

Adding insult to injury, Sony continues to prioritize other remasters, such as Horizon Zero Dawn, a game that many argue didn’t need one. Released in 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn remains visually stunning and plays well on both PlayStation and PC. The decision to remaster it instead of Bloodborne has left us all confused.

Had Sony allocated even a fraction of the money spent on Concord to a Bloodborne remaster, the company could have both appeased its fanbase and made a substantial profit. The disastrous failure of Concord serves as a stark reminder that not all ambitious projects are guaranteed to succeed.
As it stands, the unofficial PC emulation of Bloodborne has reignited the hope for us fans. We hope that the game might one day be properly ported to PC, even if it’s done by fans rather than Sony.
