Northbrook Symphony Showcases 'Rich Tapestry Of Hispanic Culture'

NORTHBROOK, IL — All good things must come to an end. With next month's "Fiesta Mexicana" concert, the curtain will close on the 2023-2024 season for the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra. The show is scheduled for 4 p.m. June 9, at the Sheely Center for the Performing Arts. Calling it a "vibrant" event, NSO said the show will feature the talents of renowned Chicago-based Sones de México Ensemble, while also showcasing a "diverse repertoire" of Mexican folk tunes and classical selections. These will inclue including Márquez's "Danzón No. 2," which melds the worlds of classical music, and traditional Mexican music.In addition to the concert, there will be a photo booth, taco truck serving Mexican cuisine, and kids' activities. Doors open at 3 p.m. Admission for students is free. Groups of 10-20 will receive a 25 percent discount on tickets, and groups of 20 or more will receive a 30 percent discount."We are delighted to present Fiesta Mexicana and share the rich tapestry of Hispanic culture with our audience," said Mina Zikri, music director of NSO. "This event not only celebrates diversity but also encourages the appreciation of classical music by showcasing its versatility and ability to blend with other genres."This marked the 44th season for NSO, which was founded in 1980, and is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.
