New “Hunger Games” Book “Sunrise on the Reaping” Set to Become a Movie in November 2026
The prequel takes place 24 years before the events of 'The Hunger Games'

Another Hunger Games movie is on the way.Lionsgate announced June 6 that the newly revealed book from author Suzanne Collins, her fifth in the bestselling series, will get a big-screen adaptation."Welcome to the Second Quarter Quell. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping – in theaters November 20, 2026," read a post on Instagram.The novel, out March 18, 2025, "will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell," per a synopsis.

That story took place 64 years before the events of The Hunger Games.Jennifer Lawrence starred as Katniss Everdeen in four Hunger Games films from 2012 to 2015.
