Local 2026 OL Javarii Luckas will be at FAMU game, talks growing relationship with Miami: “I love what coach Cristobal is trying to do”
For the second week in a row, Glades Central (Fla.) offensive lineman Javarii Luckas will be watching the Miami Hurricanes football program as they open their 2024 home campaign Saturday against Florida A&M.
This past weekend, Luckas was one of many recruits at the Florida-Miami game in Gainesville, and he’s excited to get yet another in-depth look at the Canes.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how they play and getting a good look at campus,” Luckas told CaneSport. “Miami’s game versus Florida was a great experience seeing them go out there and play. The fans and how they played really stood out, and I love the offensive line.”
After a standout showing at one of Miami’s prospect camps in June, the Hurricanes became the first program to offer the 6-foot-5, 310-pounder, who also holds offers from Penn State, Oklahoma, FIU, and UAB.
With Miami being the first school to offer Luckas, that is something he holds dearly and has a strong impact on the way he views the program.
“It’s crazy because I never thought Miami would be the first to offer me,” Luckas said. “I love what coach Mario Cristobal is trying to do with Miami. He’s trying to build the program, and I love the way he’s doing it right now.”
Since the summer, Luckas and the Canes have remained in contact with Miami staffer Edwin Pata, leading the program’s push for the in-state prospect. From sending encouraging graphics to good luck messages before his games, Luckas feels the love from the Canes staff.
“They’ve been loving me ever since I got the offer,” Luckas said. “They’ve been showing so much love, and it makes me feel great.”
CaneSport’s take
While Luckas may not yet be ranked, the 2026 offensive lineman is a local product the Hurricanes are high on who is also beginning to gain attention from a handful of programs across the country.
