Steph Curry Contract: 3 Factors Missed by Fans That Prove Viral IG Change Had No Hidden Message for Warriors
Warriors fans can finally take a backseat on Steph’s future with the franchise. He recently signed a massive contract extension worth $62.6 million. Now, because he will be 38 by the end of the 2025-26 season, the franchise could only offer a one-year extension. Nevertheless, this was ‘a major move’ considering what’s gone down in the last couple of weeks. The sharpshooter changed his Instagram bio from ‘Warriors Guard’ to ‘Olympic Gold Medalist’. This had fans questioning his future with GSW. However, with this extension, the Chef will continue cooking in the Bay! But what does this contract extension mean for Steph Curry?
The Baby-Faced Assasin has played 15 seasons with the Warriors and he’s quite keen on finishing his career, playing for just one franchise. There were talks about Steph’s uncertain future with the Warriors for several reasons. His Splash Brother Thompson is no longer with the franchise, a lack of premium assets on the roster, his recent Olympic run might divert his mind to joining a contender, and of course, his IG bio. Still, somewhere he knew that the Warriors wouldn’t put him in a situation where he’d have second thoughts.
Tim Kawakami of The Athletic clarified 3 points regarding mutual respect between Steph and the Dubs, amidst the chaos. “Curry is involved in most GSW planning discussions. He loved playing with Klay but understood why that happened. He’s seen management commit a ton of money to the roster. He always wants the most, but he’s seen it here,” Kawakami posted. When it comes to adding notable additions to the team, Curry is involved in such decisions, and rightfully so. In fact, Klay Thompson had advised Steph to not indulge in matters surrounding his future with the franchise. The Chef has seen it all, being at the center of the franchise.

Moreover, it is more likely that Steph Curry will end his career as a Warrior. There are chances that the Splash Brother might look to play through 40. But would that be in the Golden State? That would be tough to answer, however, it does depend on how things play out in the next two years. Now, fans may wonder what hides beyond this extension.
Will Steph Curry ever leave Golden State?
As of now, Curry’s extension has solidified the statement that he won’t be leaving Golden State, but then again, doubts persist. This would lead to the pendulum needing to swing into Steph’s desire to want to continue in the league. Considering someone as great as LeBron James, the King has set an example of longevity. Not only that but a year ago, the Warrior mentioned that he was indeed in the middle of his prime. “I still feel like I — I’m in the prime of my career, in a sense of what I’m able to accomplish. Just out there and what the future may hold, trying to achieve, hopefully, win more championships, and push the envelope as far as I can,” Curry said.

Will this prime stretch as far as the age of 40? It will definitely be something to look out for. The sharpshooter averaged 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists last season. He is not the fastest player on the court, but he’s definitely the quickest. This aspect of his game helps in his exhaustive off-ball movement rather than being an explosive athlete. That is a reason why he can showcase his longevity similar to LeBron. Still, it will be interesting to see whether Steph Curry plans to look elsewhere after the 2026-27 season.
