Fact checked by Sarah ScottFact checked by Sarah ScottHatch, the company behind many parents’ favorite sound machine, issued a recall on nearly 920,000 products. In compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hatch recalled the power adapters sold with some of its Rest 1st Generation sound machines. “The recall is specific to power adapters issued by Jiangsu Chenyang Electron Co. after learning that the white housing of these power adapters can come off when removing them from the power outlet, leaving the power prongs exposed and posing a shock hazard to consumers,” Hatch shares on its website. The CPSC received 19 incident reports of this occurring, with two consumers experiencing a minor electrical shock. The products were sold online at Hatch.co and Amazon.com from January 2019 through September 2022, as well as at BuyBuyBaby, Target, Walmart, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn Kids, and BestBuy stores, for between $60 and $70. The rest of the products were sold on Amazon.com from January 2019 through May 2024, for between $60 and $200. If parents own the Rest 1st Generation bought during this time period, they can check details of the AC power adapters to see if their product is in the recall.
