On300 TE JC Anderson set to return to Notre Dame to work with OC Mike Denbrock
On Monday, Notre Dame football welcome several highly recruited 2026 prospects to campus for an unofficial visit. Among them is four-star tight end JC Anderson, who pays his third trip to South Bend in seven months.
Fighting Irish offensive coordinator/tight end coach Mike Denbrock offered Decatur (Ill.) Mt. Zion’s Anderson during the program’s Pot of Gold Day campaign. Since Notre Dame’s St. Patrick’s Day-themed recruiting event, the 6-foot-7, 230-pounder has added 18 more power conference offers. His sheet of them now totals 27.
Despite having trips planned to several other power conference schools, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 146 overall player and No. 6 tight end nationally, felt a strong pull to return to Notre Dame. Anderson’s two previous trips to South Bend are only less than his four to Illinois and as many as Iowa. Yet, the No. 4 prospect in the Land of Lincoln felt he had to return to work with Denbrock.
“Denbrock would be a great coach to have some one-on-one time with,” Anderson told Blue & Gold. “He said that’s what we would do if I come up to camp. Even if I don’t end up going to Notre Dame, I think he has a lot of wisdom in football to give me.
“He’s a great dude, so I would love to go up and see him again to spend some one-on-one time with him.”
The conversation about working with the longtime assistant came up during Anderson’s second Notre Dame unofficial visit on March 22.
“He said we are going to break down my film, do a one-on-one workout and spend the whole day with each other,” Anderson said. “So, with such a great football mind like him, I felt an urge to get back up there to spend the day with him.”
In preparation for this month’s camp cycle, Anderson has been hitting the gym hard and working diligently with his trainer. Improving his speed and agility has been a big focus.
Some schools on the No. 2 tight end in the Midwest’s radar are Michigan, Oregon, Iowa, LSU, North Carolina, Tennessee, Penn State, Florida, Florida State and Auburn.
Teams are just starting to hit their stride in recruiting the 2026 cycle. So, Anderson said he hasn’t been able to grasp where he stands on some of their boards. However, the Irish have given him a hint of where he stands on theirs. Inviting him to campus to work exclusively with Denbrock only strengthened their sentiment.
“Every school tells you how much they like you,” he said. “But it’s hard to tell with all the schools. But I think Notre Dame is one of the more certain ones.”
