Pumpkin’s Boyfriend Spotted At Anna’s Dove Ceremony
In the latest episode of Mama June: Family Crisis, June decided to surprise Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson. She had mentioned that she wanted to do a dove ceremony since she and her late sister, Anna Cardwell, shared a birthday. Plus, it was Alana’s first birthday without her sister, so it was extra special and sentimental. Although she had hoped her family could come to Colorado for it, her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, felt that June was too much drama. Of course, June did not care if she was wanted or not; she was coming with the whole family in tow.

They popped up at the dove ceremony, and it was very emotional. They missed Anna on this poignant day, but were happy to be together. Pumpkin’s estranged husband, Josh Efird, was not invited, which was hard for him. He had been through Anna’s passing while raising Alana, and now he was disconnected. However, fans spotted one of the reasons that he was likely not there. Pumpkin’s new boyfriend and Josh’s cousin, Darrin Kitchens, was sitting in the background.

After Mama June fans saw this, they were very confused. In the episode, Pumpkin Efird appeared to be trying to date, but was living her best free life. Yet, her sister, Jessica Shannon, saw Pumpkin texting and smiling, so she knew something was up. As for Pumpkin’s new man, Darrin, she does not reveal that she is seeing him until upcoming episodes, so why was he there? The timeline makes sense as she allegedly started dating him in April 2024. Pumpkin and Josh filed for divorce on August 1st, 2024, and Alana’s birthday was August 28th.
Shady Business
It is clear that Pumpkin Efird and Darrin Kitchens had linked up before the divorce went through. More so, he was known to the family as her new man, so he was welcomed on the Colorado trip. Fans feel that Josh Efird was aware, and that was why he struggled with Pumpkin taking the kids on his weekend. It was not so much that he needed the time with them, although he is a great father. Rather, he did not care for Pumpkin and Darrin together. Mama June fans have had a field day with Darrin being Josh’s cousin, and this clip of him in Colorado added fuel to the fire:
