Identification Made For Joliet's Latest Murder Victim: Coroner
JOLIET — Mike VanOver, deputy coroner for Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers, issued a press release on Monday morning that reporting the death of Fernando J. Contreras, the 23-year-old Joliet man who was pronounced deceased at 4:55 a.m. on Sunday.Contreras died inside the house in the 400 block of Kraker Avenue in Joliet, the result of an apparent homicide, VanOver noted. The Joliet Police Department is investigating the incident. An autopsy was performed on Sunday and the final cause and manner will be determined following autopsy, police and toxicological reports, according to VanOver.On Sunday, Joliet Patch reported that in addition to the 23-year-old's death, two more young men were shot, all inside the front living room of the house.Officers found the unresponsive 23-year-old man in the living room with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, and a 27-year-old man with a non-life-threatening graze gunshot wound to the head. While officers were securing the scene, they learned that a 20-year-old man had also sustained four gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to Silver Cross Hospital via private vehicle.
