The Nets went into the 2023 NBA Draft looking for youth and while there were highlights, it’s a another case of wait till next year. Until late in the season, only three NBA rookies blocked seven or more shots in a single game. Victor Wembanyama of course did it multiple times. The Dallas Mavericks lottery pick, Derrick Lively II did it once and the 2022 overall, Chet Holmgren, did it as well.
Then on April 11, the Nets 19-year-old Noah Clowney pulled it off in a big game that had Nets fans drooling in anticipation of his potential. The Alabama product also showed his 3-point shooting prowess once called up from Long Island, finishing the season with 12 which is four times the number Nic Claxton, his South Carolina counterpart has hit in his five year career and the same as Day’Ron Sharpe has accomplished in his three years.
Indeed Clowney’s big finish is the highlight of the Brooklyn Nets final rookie diary that dropped Friday.
In the 11 minute video, Clowney, Dariq Whitehead, and Jalen Wilson reflect on their first year in the NBA, while also looking ahead to Year 2 in the association. It features exclusive sound from each player, new Nets Head Coach Jordi Fernández, and more.
