Patrick Beverly Says He Knows How LeBron James Feels After Experiencing Fandom Playing in Israel [Video]
Patrick Beverly‘s antics over the years have never completely overshadowed his impact on the court—until last season in Milwaukee. During his time there, he was involved in a few incidents and his productivity declined, which discouraged NBA teams from inquiring about him at a price he would have found acceptable. As a result, after 12 NBA seasons, Beverly decided to play in Israel. This season, he joined Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv and, in his first friendly game, he scored three points and recorded six assists in 15 minutes of play.
While a friendly matchup that doesn’t count toward official records isn’t a concern, it’s not Beverly’s slow start that has caught the attention of NBA fans—it’s what he said on his podcast this week. According to Beverly, after games, everyone wants to take pictures with him—from coaches and players to fans. He shared that this constant attention has become exhausting and claimed that he now understands how LeBron James feels.

“I know how LeBron feels,” Pat told his co-host on his podcast. “I leave games and the guys I play against want pictures. The coaches I play against want pictures. The fans that I go against, that boo me, I leave out and it’s 30 kids outside and they all want pictures. And this is every country we go to. Like today was a friendly day, a friendly game in Belgrade, and I think I took 50 pictures today.
The NBA has long promoted the global nature of the game, and indeed, for kids from other countries, the chance to meet a true NBA veteran like Beverly can be a big draw—perhaps even more than it would be for an average fan in America. While Beverly could have mentioned many players, his reference to LeBron might stem from the recent incident in France, where LeBron asked a fan not to run up to him.
That did not stop NBA fans on X from trolling Pat after this quote dropped.
