Update: Patrick Mahomes’ Dad Pleads Guilty To Felony DWI Charge
Update: (Aug. 27, 2024): Patrick Mahomes Sr. is taking responsibility for his actions.
The 54-year-old dad of famed Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II has pleaded guilty to a felony driving while intoxicated charge. As you may recall, Mahomes Sr. was arrested in Feb. for driving while intoxicated.
According to a report from TMZ, Mahomes Sr. entered the guilty plea on Tuesday (Aug. 27) prior to the case going to trial. The charge was officially DWI third or more. At this time, details on the deal Mahomes Sr. made with prosecutors are limited.
While it’s assumed the agreement will result in leniency for Mahomes Sr., he is facing up to 10 years behind bars and a fine of up to $10,000. Sentencing is set for next month on Sept. 23.

Original Story: (Feb 7, 2024): The star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes II, doesn’t seem to have much to say about his father’s recent arrest for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
According to the Smith County Jail booking report, authorities arrested Patrick Mahomes Sr. in Tyler, Texas, on a DWI charge on Feb. 3, and unfortunately, this isn’t the first time he’s been in this situation. He was arrested on a DWI charge back in 2018 as well. He served 40 days in jail on weekends from February 2019 to February 2020 for his crime. Regarding his latest offense, Patrick Mahomes Sr. posted a $10,000 bond on Feb. 4.

His arrest comes as his son, Patrick Mahomes II, prepares to star in his fourth Super Bowl, which is set for this Sunday (Feb. 11) in Las Vegas against the San Francisco 49ers.
On Monday (Feb 5) Patrick Mahomes II was asked about his dad’s arrest during the Super Bowl Opening Night press conference and seemingly avoided giving details on the matter. He said,
“He’s doing good. I don’t really want to get into it too much, but he’s doing good for whatever the situation is.”
He added,
“It’s a family matter, so I’ll just keep it to the family, and that’s all I really have to say at this point.”

Last year, Mahomes II’s younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, was also in legal trouble. In May 2023, police charged Jackson Mahomes with one count of misdemeanor battery and three counts of aggravated sexual battery for allegedly forcibly kissing the owner of a Kansas City-area bar and shoving a waiter.

However, this January, prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss Jackson’s felony sexual assault. According to reports, the alleged victim chose not to cooperate with the investigation. Jackson still faces the misdemeanor battery charge for the waiter incident. He’s pleaded not guilty.
