Vallejo Police Arrest 22-Year-Old Suspected in Fatal May Shooting on Redwood Parkway
A suspect tied to a fatal Vallejo shooting in mid-May has been put behind bars, following a Vallejo Police Department operation. The shooting incident, which left a woman dead and a man wounded, occurred on the 2900 block of Redwood Parkway, Vallejo.
The Vallejo Police received a distressing call about the incident on May 18th at approximately 11:04 P.M. Per the police reports and emergency response narrative, a woman and a man were found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Responding officers provided immediate medical aid before medics arrived and declared the woman deceased, while the man was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening. The incident was described in detail by the Vallejo Police Department.
Investigation into the shooting was undertaken by Vallejo Police Department's Homicide Detectives who were able to identify a suspect, 22-year-old Juwan Nathaniel Chandler of Vallejo. The evidence gathered in the investigation subsequently led to the Solano County District Attorney's Office filing murder charges against Chandler. An arrest warrant was organized and executed following the building of the case.
To apprehend Chandler, the Vallejo Police Department's SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Team conducted a targeted operation on June 5th, at the aforementioned Redwood Parkway location, and successfully took Chandler into custody without incident. This development in the case was revealed in updates from the Vallejo Police Department.
The identity of the woman who was tragically killed has been withheld by authorities pending notification of next of kin.
