Helicopter Flying Low In Worcester For National Grid Operation
WORCESTER, MA — If you hear a helicopter hovering low over Worcester over the next few weeks, it's just a National Grid inspection. The electric utility will use a helicopter to fly over and visually inspect transmission lines that cross the for about the next 10 days, according to the city. The flights will occur on weekdays only, which means they could last through May 17. National Grid will be using a Bell 206 model helicopter, which look similar to models used by local TV stations and state police. Worcester has seen similar flights before, when helicopters with special infrared cameras were used last year to inspect railroad tracks.
