Memphis Weather Update Shows Rain, Thunderstorms, and a Temperature Drop Ahead
Residents of Memphis can expect a slight change in the weather with chances of rain and thunderstorms in the coming week, according to the National Weather Service. In the latest update from the NWS, overnight conditions will stay mostly cloudy with a calm wind and a 20 percent chance of showers.
Friday's forecast brings a mixed bag; there is a slight chance of showers before 7 a.m., and thereafter, the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms inches up slightly after 1 p.m. During the afternoon, a northerly wind of 5 to 10 mph will greet the high near 90 degrees. After the sun goes down, a 20 percent chance of precipitation persists before clearing up before 10 p.m.
The weekend should see a considerable drop in temperatures, with Saturday's high expected to reach a comfortable 78 degrees under sunny skies. The cleansing north northeast winds will be brisk, gusting as high as 25 mph. As the night descends, the mercury is set to dip to a cool 53 degrees, under clear skies and a continuing north northeast wind of 10 to 15 mph.
Following the weekend, the NWS outlook radiates with more sun. Sunday keeps the bright streak alive; sunny conditions will dominate as the high peaks around 79 degrees. A gentle northeast wind of 5 to 10 mph will accompany these clear skies. The nighttime should hold firmly clear with a comfortable low around 55 degrees, again with the northeast wind softly whispering at around 5 mph.
As the new week commences, the sunny disposition holds firm. Monday forecasts set the temperature climbing to a high near 86 degrees with an east northeast wind wafting at about 5 mph. As dusk gathers, the sky remains mostly clear with overnight temperatures dropping to around 62 degrees.
The balmy weather seems to plateau on Tuesday, with temperatures soaring back to the high 80s. The evening will transition into mostly cloudy conditions and a mild low around 66. Midweek invites a subtle shift; Wednesday's skies will be partly sunny, the warmth slightly tempered with a high nearing 85 degrees, and by nightfall, a 20 percent chance of showers teases the largely clouded sky. Thursday caps off the week with a 30 percent chance of showers and a high of about 82 degrees under partly sunny skies.
