Beyond The Gates Spoilers: The Surprising Shift In Ron Carlivati's Role As Head Writer-He’s Not One At The New Show!Beyond The Gates news reveals Ron Carlivati is well-known for his contributions as a writer in many soap operas, but lately, viewers have spotted his name linked to a new daytime series. Nevertheless, there is some confusion among fans regarding his specific role in the production of the new CBS Soap.
Ron Got His Start On One Life To Live
Carlivati has established a notable career as a writer for several soap operas. His work includes popular series such as ABC’s One Life to Live and General Hospital, as well as NBC’s Days of Our Lives, which is currently available for streaming on Peacock.
He began his journey with One Life to Live as a writer’s assistant, progressing to script and breakdown writer. In 2007, he assumed the role of head writer alongside Dena Higley, ultimately becoming the primary head writer by the year’s end.
Carlivati held this position until 2012; after One Life to Live concluded in 2012, he transitioned to General Hospital, where he again took on the head writer responsibilities. He later became the head writer for Days of Our Lives, concluding his tenure in 2024, with his work airing until 2025.
Now Carlivati Has Taken A Writing Position At Beyond The Gates
After this, Carlivati began his work on CBS’s newest daytime drama, Beyond the Gates. This show centers around the wealthy Dupree family and marks a significant return of daytime soaps to a major American broadcast network, being one of the first since Passions debuted in 1999.
Additionally, it stands out as the first soap opera to primarily showcase an African-American family since Generations aired in 1989.
Carlivati’s involvement in Beyond the Gates has caught the attention of soap enthusiasts, who are familiar with his name. Nevertheless, some uncertainty has arisen regarding his new position.
Fans Have Been Talking On Social Media About Ron’s New Job
Some fans have criticized Ron’s writing on the past shows, not liking the science fiction aspects on GH and DOOL.
However, General Hospital and Days Of Our Lives have had science fiction type storylines ever since the 1980s, long before Ron was even writing for them.
A fan recently took to social media to share their thoughts, stating, “I’ve been watching Beyond the Gates and really enjoy it. However, I noticed in the credits that Ron C. is listed as the head writer. So far, it’s not bad.”
In response, another fan clarified in the comments, “Ron isn’t the head writer; he’s just part of the writing team;” a third fan added, “To be more precise, he’s a breakdown writer.”
Officially, IMDB has confirmed Carlivati’s position as a breakdown writer for the soap, while also recognizing him as a head writer for other series.
Fans Are Curious What Carlivati’s Writing Will Be Like On The New Soap
The original poster inquired, “Could you clarify for those of us who might interpret this as him writing all scenes where someone has a breakdown, whether emotionally or physically, literally or metaphorically? Lol.”
A fan responded, “Breakdown writers outline the events of the episode and their sequence, while the scriptwriter adds the dialogue.” This led the original poster to reflect, “So, there’s a distinction between physical writing and dialogue writing.
The poster continues, “I never considered that before. Was that the case in the movie ‘Soap Dish’ with Whoopi Goldberg and Sally Field?” In the end, they concluded, “I might be mistaken about the head writer, but he is indeed a writer for the show.”
Fans Have Been Talking On Social Media, Some Thinking Ron’s Position Is A Demotion
In the comments section, several fans expressed their thoughts on seeing Carlivati’s name in the credits.
Some wondered what he would contribute to the new soap, given his past experience in the genre. Comments included: “Isn’t that quite a step down?” “For better or worse, I now picture Ron as Leo [Stark] (a character from DOOL played by Greg Rikaart).
Who knew he was living in a hotel room?” “I heard he joined the writing team just before the show aired, but I didn’t realize he wasn’t the head writer. That’s new information for me.” “I wonder how long it will be before his favorite, Jackée Harry, shows up on Beyond the Gates.”
