The View star Joy Behar says why she'd pardon Donald Trump for his crimes if she were president

The talk show cohost and staunch anti-Trump commentator explained why she'd dismiss Trump's legal infractions if she were elected to office.

Joy Behar wasn't kidding when she revealed weeks ago that she was "having a breakdown" over election anxiety, as The View cohost, comedian, and staunch anti-Donald Trump commentator just revealed she'd pardon Trump's crimes if she were president — but, there's a catch.
The 82-year-old made the stunning admission Thursday on the show's Behind the Table podcast, where View producer Brian Teta gauged Behar's assessment of the election cycle with five days to go before Americans head to the polls to elect either Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris.
"I think Kamala will win. I think that he will drag it out, I think he's going to protest and contest and generally be a pain in the ass about it. I think a lot of his followers are going to be doing some version of the insurrection on Jan. 6. We'll finally get it straight, the National Guard might have to be called up," Behar estimated of what's ahead for Americans, before issuing her own plea to Trump.

"And then, please, go away, Donald. Just go away. I don't want you to go to prison, I really don't, I don't have hatred for him, I just want him to go away. Move to Moscow," she said, before Teta asked her if she'd pardon Trump for his various crimes, including his May conviction on 34 counts related to a hush-money trial. "Yes, I would, I would pardon him just to get rid of him, just the way Gerald Ford pardoned [Richard] Nixon, and we never saw him again. In fact, Nixon became a better statesman after he was thrown out than while he was in office. He opened the door to China. Maybe Trump could do something, but not from New York City."
She later prompted him to "go to North Korea" or Russia, which she called "places where you really are welcome."

Behar's change of heart comes after the comedian has, for years from her post at the Hot Topics table, pushed back against Trump, his policies, and his general behavior.
"This business [of voters saying] 'I'm still on the fence, I'm still on the fence.' Get off the fence, already. It's a presidential candidate with credentials versus some kind of a nutcase. That's what you're up against. Stop with the fence, already. I'm sick of it," Behar said on a recent episode of The View, throwing her hands into the air. "I can't take this anymore. You see, I'm having a breakdown. I cannot wait for election day so I can sleep at night. Ugh."
