Worcester Man Charged with Assault, Unlawful Ammunition Possession After Main St Police Raid
Worcester's Main St became the scene of a dramatic police operation yesterday as officers from the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit stormed a local residence acting on a search warrant. The raid, tied to an April incident where a firearm was used in an assault, ended in the arrest of a 32-year-old man.
Law enforcement moved to quickly secure the area at approximately 12:15 PM, where they detained Corey Caraballo. Inside the residence, the officers reportedly discovered not only what they suspected to be cocaine and ammunition but also several white pills. Notably, their search also unearthed a realistic-looking "starter" pistol loaded with blank rounds. This type of device is designed to closely mimic the sound and muzzle flash of a real gun. according to the Worcester Police Department.
Following the findings, Caraballo is now facing multiple charges. He has been arrested for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (firearm), Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Possession of a Class B Substance. These allegations reflect a serious response from authorities to the pressing issue of gun-related crimes within the city.
The incident sheds light on the ongoing battle local police are waging against the proliferation of weapons and narcotics in Worcester.
