Floyd Mayweather Gets the Ultimate Compliment From Joe Rogan for Sticking to His Morals Unlike Other Boxers
Some people think Floyd Mayweather ruined the sport of boxing. After all, the obsession with money, being undefeated, and thus not fighting any tough challengers have been attributed to Mayweather. Not to mention his defensive, Philly Shell fighting style which most fans found insomnia-curing.
But Joe Rogan is not one of those people. After all, the UFC commentator and lifelong fight fan consider Mayweather one of the, if not the greatest boxer of all time. But being a former martial artist himself, Rogan’s appreciation for ‘Money’ goes beyond just his successes in the ring and spotless record. On a recent episode of his JRE podcast, the Texas resident sang paeans to the legendary discipline and dedication that Mayweather has had all his life.
I mean he’s [Floyd Mayweather is] there drinking a Coke and you would think, like, there’s no way this guy he treats his body like a temple. But he does. He’s smart. That guy did it the right way. Never drank, never partied, never was out of shape, never got fat, would run home from the club at 2:00 in the morning,” an awe-struck Rogan said on the podcast.

In addition, Rogan felt that the undefeated boxer, in a genius move, monetized the hate from fans to become the richest boxer in the history of the sport at the time. And as always when talking about Mayweather, Rogan couldn’t help but reiterate that the retired boxer was the greatest defensive boxer of all time. Both of these are fair points that even Mayweather’s worst critics would agree with.
“He got to see all the mistakes and he’s like ‘I’m not making any of these.’ He was built different too. Like he’s smarter than everybody else. Also figured out ‘I can’t knock everybody out but I can get everybody to want me to get knocked out and so people come to see me get knocked out, and I beat everybody’… If boxing is hit and don’t get hit, who’s better than Floyd? Zero people,” Rogan added on the podcast. But it is precisely this hit-and-don’t-get-hit style of Mayweather that has prevented him from getting his just deserts in the fight community, as Rogan himself admitted in another recent podcast episode.
Joe Rogan thinks Mayweather’s decision is why he is so disrespected
As we have mentioned, Joe Rogan finds Mayweather’s business acumen amazing. The podcast host was impressed how ‘Money’ has managed to keep the gravy train going, even after retiring as a pro, by fighting in meaningless exhibitions against no-name tomato cans.
However, he is quite bothered by the fact that the former multiple-division champ doesn’t get his due credit, as he told neurologist Andrew Huberman on a previous JRE episode. The podcast host feels that Mayweather’s greatest strengths– ability to monetize hate, and greatest ever defense– have been a double-edged sword that has prevented people from truly appreciating his mastery over the Sweet Science.
“I mean, people, just because of the fact that he won decisions by playing it safe, people don’t get excited about him and don’t recognize him with the all-time greats. He’s the best ever,” Rogan complained.
But you won’t find Mayweather complaining. After all, the American boxing maestro has deliberately cultivated a hateable persona over the years, not to mention his point-fighting style and exemplary discipline have meant that his health is almost impeccable. So much so that Mayweather can continue fighting in exhibitions and thus make millions upon millions of dollars for a long time to come.
