Wolverine TV: Game clips of Top 100 CB, Michigan flip target Brandon Finney
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was on the road last week and saw Top 100 Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh cornerback Brandon Finney in game action. Finney is committed to Oregon, but Michigan is doing its best to flip him before signing day in December.
Watch highlights from the game at the end of the story.
Finney Recruitment
Michigan extended an offer to Finney during the spring evaluation period when area recruiter Ron Bellamy stopped by his high school.
Finney committed to Oregon a month later and appeared to be off the board. However, new Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan made him a top priority and was able to get him on campus for an unofficial visit last month for the game against Texas.
Finney is now set to return to Michigan for an official visit in November and is one of U-M’s most important remaining targets in the 2025 class.
Here is what Holland had to say about Finney’s recruitment.
“Finney gave Oregon a verbal commitment in June,” Holland said. “However, Michigan was able to get him in for the game against Texas last month. Finney is now coming back to Ann Arbor for an official visit in November. Oregon is always tough to beat on the recruiting trail in the NIL era. Still, Michigan is making a strong push here, and two fall visits speaks volumes about Finney’s interest. Distance may be playing a role here, which should help the Wolverines.”
Michigan has 16 commits in its 2025 recruiting class — Marsh, Top 100 Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh tight end Andrew Olesh, Top 100 Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange safety Ivan Taylor, Top 100 Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga defensive back Kainoa Winston, On300 Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, On300 Alpharetta (Ga.) High EDGE Julius Holly, On300 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy running back Donovan Johnson, On300 Kilgore (Texas) High cornerback Jayden Sanders, four-star New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw wide receiver Jacob Washington, four-star Palatine (Ill.) High EDGE Jaylen Williams, four-star Birmingham (Mich.) Groves offensive lineman Avery Gach, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, three-star New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw running back Jasper Parker, three-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn, three-star Stockbridge (Ga.) High linebacker Chase Taylor and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens.
The class entered the day ranked No. 14 nationally and No. 4 in the Big Ten, per the On3 Industry national team recruiting rankings. The Wolverines currently sit behind Ohio State, USC and Oregon.
