Hepatitis Testing Urged As DuPage Health Recognizes Awareness Month
DUPAGE COUNTY — Health officials in DuPage County are urging residents to get tested for hepatitis, as May is Hepatitis Awareness Month and May 19 is Hepatitis Testing Day throughout the U.S. According to DuPage County Health Departmnet (DCHD), hepatitis A, B and C causes liver inflammation, which may cause liver cancer or other types of liver damage. Hepatitis can often be asymptomatic, which is one reason testing is encouraged. DCHD Shared the following statistics: Hepatitis A: 10 cases in 2023Hepatitis B: 85 cases in 2020Hepatitis C: 80 cases in 2023Residents can call 630-682-7400 to schedule a hepatitis testing appointment or vaccine.
