Cranberrry Reigninting Citizens' Fire Academy
CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA —The Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company’s 2025 Citizens' Fire Academy is an eight-week public education course that allows residents and Cranberry-based business owners to explore the fire company’s operations.Through hands-on demonstrations and student skill stations, graduates will leave with a better understanding of the fire company.The course is aimed at anyone curious about the fire service or wanting to learn more about their community. The knowledge learned can be used as a springboard, as participants can join the Company as volunteers and proceed through the firefighter certification and education process.The academy will occur at the township's public safety facility on Sept. 8, 16, 23 and 30, and Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28. A final scenario will be held from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Nov. 1.The company’s volunteer firefighters will teach each session, covering topics such as apparatus types and functions, working in turnout gear, forcible entry, ladders, hose line advancement, and vehicle extrication.
