Natalie Portman’s New Outlook on Life Might Have Everything to Do With Her Latest Flirty Outing
In the past year, Natalie Portman has gone through a lot. In addition to reportedly trying to make her marriage to Benjamin Millepied work after cheating rumors, the Oscar winner and her ex ended up getting a divorce, leaving her single for the first time since 2010. But, according to a new source, Portman has officially “turned the corner” and has a fresh new outlook on life.
According to an Us Weekly insider, “Natalie is her confident self [again],” adding that she has a “lighter step” and “more joy” in her eyes since finalizing her divorce from Millepied in March. As a reminder, the former couple share kids Aleph, 12, and Amalia, 6.
“It took her a while to get her smile back after the divorce, but she has turned a corner,” the source added.
And while most of her struggles have happened away from cameras, fans got a taste of what her post-divorce life might be looking like when she was spotted at a pub recently with Normal People star Paul Mescal. In the viral pictures, Portman and Mescal were seen chatting, smiling and laughing as they had a cigarette outside a London pub.

“There’s no sign that Natalie is flirting here but Paul’s body language suggests he’s enjoying her attention and her company and maybe even a little sweetly in awe of her,” body language expert Judi James told Metro of the photos. “[He’s in awe] to the point where he looks slightly shy, giggling while putting one arm up in a barrier and even touching his own face in what looks like a bid to keep her attention on him.”
“They are clearly enjoying each other’s company,” James added. “There is a space between them that is big enough to be politely sociable. [But] rather than intimate, there are no signals from either of them to suggest they would like to get closer here.”
So while James might believe the two have a purely platonic relationship, it’s safe to say even a friendship with Mescal might’ve helped Portman get through this tough phase. Either way, we’re so happy for her for feeling like herself again.
