2024 Travelers Championship R3: Tee Times & Pairings Explored
After the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No.2, which caused trouble for even some of the best golfers in the world, the PGA Tour is back with its next event, the Travelers Championship. After the second round of the tournament, South Korean golfer, Tom Kim is leading the scoreboard with a score of 13 under 127. Until now, Kim has carded a whopping 13 birdies without a single bogie!
Behind Kim by just two strokes, at T2, are the American pros Colin Morikawa, Akshay Bhatia, and the world number one, Scottie Scheffler. For the tee times and the pairings of the third round, PGA Tour Communications has shared the schedule on its official X handle.
As the PGA Tour tradition goes, Eric Cole will tee off at 8:00 am EDT, followed by the other half of the pair, Justin Rose. The rest of the players will follow them as per the schedule:

After not being able to perform well in the US Open and finishing at T41, the world number one must be looking to capitalize on the Travelers Championship. Just behind Scottie Scheffler and at the 5th spot is Xander Schauffele. After winning this year’s PGA Championship and finishing at T7 in the US Open, the world number two is also looking pretty strong. However, a prominent name is absent from the tournament. It’s none other than Rory McIlroy.
Why is Rory McIlroy not a part of the Travelers Championship 2024?
The world number two withdrew his name from the Travelers Championship just before the opening round date. The reason for this was his heartbreaking loss to Bryson DeChambeau at the US Open. At Pinehurst No. 2, McIlroy missed clinching the trophy by a single stroke. As a result, his 10-year wait for his fifth major title persists. His distress was evident as he left the course immediately after the conclusion of the major.

McIlroy’s agony began at the par-4 16th hole of the final round as the Irishman’s putt for par from inside three feet didn’t go in. The same fate followed the four-time major winner at the last hole and he carded another bogey. Later, DeChambeau successfully made the final hole at par, winning the US Open title with an overall score of 6 under 274.
After his last major win in 2014, the world number two has finished inside the top 10 of a major event a whopping 21 times! Do you think that McIlroy will be able to end this drought by winning the 2024 Open Championship? Let us know in the comments.
