Chevy Chase Man Captured In Death Of MD Parole Agent: Police
CHEVY CHASE, MD — Authorities on Saturday captured and charged a Chevy Chase man wanted in connection with the death of a Maryland parole and probation agent, 33-year-old Davis Martinez.U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task force officers took Emanuel Edward Sewell, 54, a registered sex offender, into custody as a suspect in the parole agent's death. He was charged with second-degree murder.According to Montgomery County Police, officers were called to an apartment in the 2800 block of Terrace Drive shortly before 6 p.m. Friday to do a welfare check on Martinez, who had not reported back to work after meeting with Sewell.Inside the apartment, police found the agent, who was pronounced dead at the scene.Shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, Sewell was located traveling on I-64 near Hurricane, West Virginia. U.S. marshals made a traffic stop and placed Sewell in custody.Martinez, a six-year employee of the Maryland Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services, had gone to the 2800 block of Terrace Drive in Chevy Chase to conduct a resident check of Sewell, who had been released from prison in 2021. The medical examiner has determined the manner of death a homicide. The victim suffered multiple injuries. Sewell has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held in Putnam County.
