Former police officer charged with DUI in deadly North Kingstown crash
NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A suspected drunk driver who police say hit and killed a tricycle rider in North Kingstown faced a judge on Friday.
According to North Kingstown police, Daniel Famiglietti was arrested following the crash Thursday evening on Boston Neck Road.
Police said a 53-year-old North Kingstown woman was riding a tricycle in the breakdown lane just before 7 p.m. when she was hit from behind by a Jeep.

The woman, later identified as Linda Sherman, was taken to Kent Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Famiglietti, 59, of Warwick, was charged with driving under the influence, resulting in death.
The city of Providence confirmed to 12 News that Famiglietti is a former Providence police officer who retired in early 2022.
He was arraigned Friday morning and released on bail.
