AZ Woman Accused Of Stabbing Man In Robbery Attempt In Providence
PROVIDENCE, RI — An Arizona woman has been charged in Providence County Superior Court after prosecutors said she stabbed a man while trying to rob him at a Providence bus terminal, Attorney General Peter Neronha said Friday. On April 19, Dusti Turner, 35, was charged with assault with intent to rob, assault resulting on serious bodily injury, and conspiracy to commit robbery.Prosecutors said the stabbing happened around 4:19 p.m. Dec. 15 at the bus terminal at the intersection of Dorrance and Weybosset streets. Officers found the victim suffering from a stab wound to his leg and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding before emergency responders rushed him to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.Prosecutors said police reviewed security footage from the bus terminal and the 7-Eleven store across the street, which showed Turner following the victim. According to prosecutors, the video then showed Turner pulling at the victim's coat from behind and then punching and kicking him.The victim then freed himself and ran toward the bus terminal. Prosecutors said Turner followed him before running away towards Kennedy Plaza. The victim told investigators that while he did not know the Turner's name, she was referred to as "Red," and they lived together at a home on Dexter Street before he moved out. The victim then positively identified Turner in a photo lineup, prosecutors said.Separately, on Feb. 22, Turner was charged with the murder of a woman found in the Woonasquatucket River. The case remains pending.Turner is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on the stabbing and attempted robbery charges on June 3, in Providence County Superior Court.Have a news tip?
