Every Saturday Night Live season 50 host and musical guest
From first-timers like Jean Smart to old faves like John Mulaney and Michael Keaton, here's who's hosting "SNL" each week.
While there were plenty of heavy hitters at the annual Alfred E. Smith Foundation Dinner in NYC on Thursday night, they probably never expected to see Saturday Night Live's Mary Katherine Gallagher make an appearance at the annual Catholic charity gala. The glitzy event typically draws politicians from both major American political parties, making it kind of a neutral ground for presidential candidates during election years where they can poke fun at one another and themselves. Unlike her Republican opponent Donald Trump, Kamala Harris did not attend in person, but she did submit a virtual speech. The sitting vice president just needed a little bit of assistance. While recording a her remarks for the dinner, Harris' video was interrupted by none other than Molly Shannon, who resurrected her Catholic schoolgirl character Mary Katherine Gallagher from her time on SNL. Upon meeting Harris, Mary Katherine said that, as a Catholic, the Al Smith Dinner represents "one of the biggest dinners, next to the Last Supper." Naturally, the always Mary Katherine also had to share her signature tic with the VP: Shoving her hands under her armpits and then sniffing her fingers. Her credentials thus established, Harris asked Mary Katherine if she had any thoughts as to what she should say in her speech.

"My feelings about what you should say tonight would be best expressed in a monologue from one of my favorite made for TV series," said Mary Katherine, before looking directly into the camera to begin her spiel: "Don't you see, man? We need a woman to represent us, A woman brings more heart and compassion. And think how smart she must be to become a top contender in a field dominated by men? It's time for a woman, bro! And with this woman, we can fly!"When Harris asked what series it was from, Mary Katherine explained that it was from House of the Dragon — now streaming on HBO Max.Sign up for Entertainment Weekly's free daily newsletter to get breaking TV news, exclusive first looks, recaps, reviews, interviews with your favorite stars, and more.

But that wasn't the end of Mary Katherine's pop culture references. She then asked Harris if it bothers her to be insulted by Trump all the time."It's very important to always remember: You should never let anyone tell you who you are," Harris said. "You tell them who you are."Mary Katherine responded by quoting Taylor Swift: "Haters gonna hate, hate, hate. Shake it off!""Shake it off," Harris concurred.

After an aide finally came and dragged Mary Katherine away, Harris proceeded to deliver her actual Al Smith Dinner remarks. But Mary Katherine couldn't leave without saying her catchphrase (which was also the title of her 1999 spinoff movie)."One last thing I want to tell you! Don't forget to say: Superstar!" Mary Katherine exclaimed while striking her signature pose. "Thank you, Mamala."
