WNBA fans fearing the worst for Caitlin Clark after coach gives concerning injury update

One of the faces of the WNBA may not play again in the regular season in a shocking development to Indiana Fever fans as Caitlin Clark's return to the court does not appear to be imminent.
Fever head coach Stephanie White gave the latest update on Clark's health on Sunday, as she will miss her 13th straight game against the Connecticut Sun, and 23rd overall this season, with a groin injury.
Now, it is not a given Clark is back by the end of the regular season, with Indiana still to play 10 games before a possible postseason game.
'That’s the hope. The hope is that she’s back,' White said of Clark's timetable for a return before the playoffs.
White's previous update on Clark came earlier in the week, where she stayed tight-lipped about when her best player could be back on the court.
'It's day-to-day right now, we're putting no timetable on it. [She is] going through the rehab process, and then we want to reintegrate her from a strength and conditioning standpoint and then get her back to basketball activities.'

'So we're taking it one day at a time, really slow rolling it, slow playing it this time. The most important thing for us is Caitlin's long-term health and getting her back to 100% before we put her back on the floor.'
Clark has been limited to only 13 appearances this season, a whimper compared to her stellar rookie season with multiple injures, which began in May.
The Fever are 8-5 with her in the lineup and 10-11 without her in WNBA action. The team did win the WNBA Commissioner's Cup without her, with that contest not counting toward the league standings.
Indiana is in seventh place in the WNBA standings, in the middle of the logjam for the final playoff spots.
The Fever are 1.5 games ahead of the ninth-place Los Angeles Sparks to stay in the WNBA playoff race, while also 1.5 games back of the Phoenix Mercury and Las Vegas Aces, who are in a tie for fourth place.
Indiana's regular-season finale is on Sept. 9 against the Minnesota Lynx, who also happen to be the team's next opponent on Friday after Sunday's matchup against Connecticut.
