Looking at the next round of NFL Gamecocks
Four South Carolina Gamecocks heard their name called in the 2024 NFL Draft, led by first-round pick Xavier Legette and finishing with seventh-round selection Nick Gargiulo.
Spencer Rattler and Marcellas Dial also heard their names called in the middle rounds.
The way this season plays out will dictate how many – and where – Gamecocks from this season’s roster will go on to become pro draft selections.
It’s an early look, but we have picked up some buzz on where things stand for some hopefuls.
— Around this time of year, scouts segment players into seniors and potential early entries.
Out of the seniors/graduates, the player who’s quietly carrying a good bit of buzz into the season is transfer defensive tackle DeAndre Jules.

If he has the type of season he’s capable of, it would not be a surprise to see Jules as one of the highest-drafted players from this season’s roster. Right now, he’s hovering around the third/fourth round projection range, with room to adjust up or down based on how this season goes.
Jules’ former head coach at Pittsburgh, Pat Narduzzi, gave his opinion publicly that Jules is a Sunday player.
The other names I’ve heard the most about in the senior/graduate age group are – interestingly – all also transfers.
Tight end Josh Simon, linebacker Demetrius Knight, running back Rocket Sanders, and wide receiver Gage Larvadain are all in the later round range. Again, caveat, that could go up or down based on this season.
I was a bit surprised that the feedback I got didn’t include more mention of Tonka Hemingway. I believe he will ultimately be in that conversation.
There are some other guys I could see drawing strong pro consideration by the time the season is over from this age group: RB Oscar Adaway, WR Dalevon Campbell, DL Tonka Hemingway, DT Boogie Huntley, EDGE Kyle Kennard, LBs Bam Martin-Scott, Bangally Kamara, and Debo Williams, CB OD Fortune, and punter Kai Kroeger.
— In the junior (includes fourth-year guys) category, defensive tackle TJ Sanders is probably the best pro prospect on the entire roster. With a big season, he has a chance to be a guy who’s talked about a lot going into the draft.
Nick Emmanwori is another to monitor on this front, and he should test quite well in a combine setting.
Tight end Brady Hunt could also make some noise this season and could raise his stock enough to where there’s a decision to make.
