Teens, Woman Arrested On Riot, Other Charges In Manchester
MANCHESTER, NH — Police in the Queen City accused an “unruly crowd” of interfering with a police firearm and drug investigation, which led to several arrests Thursday. Around 3:30 p.m., the department’s anti-crime unit was searching an apartment in a multi-family home on Parker Street near Winter Street, reportedly involving firearms and drug dealing, Heather Hamel, the public information officer for the department, said. When police began to leave the building, a crowd of juveniles and adults accosted police, she said. “While attempting to secure evidence seized from the investigation in their police vehicles,” Hamel said, “officers were angrily confronted and antagonized by the crowd. This behavior escalated into an officer being physically assaulted by multiple individuals on scene, which led to several arrests.”Jorge Ortega, 18, of Manchester was arrested on riot, felonious use of a firearm, and sale of a controlled drug charges, all felonies, as well as disorderly conduct, resisting arrest or detention, and possession of marijuana. A 17-year-old was also arrested on felony riot, obstruction of government administration, simple assault, and resisting arrest charges.
