Trump Speech Furthered 'Lies and Division:' Dean

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean reacted to President Donald Trump's speech before Congress Tuesday night, "In another year, with another president, I would have hoped this Joint Address to Congress would be a vision for a bright future," Dean said in a Facebook post following the speech. "Regardless of party, I would have hoped for an address in which the President invites us all to come together on behalf of the American people. Sadly, I knew better than to hope for that tonight."Dean, who represents parts of Montgomery County, said she was "disappointed but unsurprised" that President Trump used a joint session to further his lies and division. "We heard incorrect claims about crucial benefits. We heard lies about tariffs. We heard countless more falsehoods tonight," Dean said.Dean said that Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are lifelines to millions. She said tariffs will "deeply harm" American consumers and businesses. "And we know the President will say whatever he wants, regardless of the facts," Dean said. "This is not normal. Know that I will continue fighting back against Mr. Trump’s radical agenda."Dean said constituents should call her office if she can help them or their families. The article Trump Speech Furthered 'Lies and Division:' Dean appeared first on Abington, PA Patch.
