Major UK airport used by millions of passengers launches huge change to parking rules – how will YOU be affected?
A MAJOR UK airport is rolling out a new parking system that will change the way drivers pay for drop-offs.
From March 18, Birmingham Airport (BHX) will introduce a barrierless parking system at its Premium Set Down and drop-off car parks, using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.

The new system, operated in partnership with NCP, aims to reduce congestion and improve convenience for passengers.
Drivers will no longer pay at a barrier but must choose one of three payment methods instead.
They can register in advance for AutoPay, which automatically deducts the fee after exiting the car park.
Alternatively, they can use Post Pay to pay later via the Birmingham Airport website, but this must be done within 24 hours of leaving.
Those who prefer to pay in person can use the on-site payment machines before exiting the car park.
Failure to pay within the time limit could result in a Penalty Charge Notice.
Nikki Bains, Head of Planning, Transport, and Strategy at Birmingham Airport, said: “Customers using our Premium Set Down and drop off car park can now save time with even more ways to pay for their parking.
“We recommend customers register their vehicle details on AutoPay in advance of parking to be automatically billed upon exiting.
“Alternative methods of paying are still available including pay online via Post Pay and the pre-existing payment machines located on-site.
“These changes to our car parks will help reduce queues in the car parks, minimising carbon emissions and air quality impacts, supporting the airport’s goal to become Net Zero Carbon by 2033 and its existing plans to manage and reduce air quality impacts.”
